Has anybody here sold a car through it yet? I’m putting the M3 up for sale this week and would prefer to go this route over Craigslist.

I don’t even use facebook, but have used friends’ accounts to sell things through one of our local “trading post” sites — not the official marketplace, per se, but it was a much smoother transaction than anything I’ve ever done on CL.

I haven’t, but I’ve seen lots of MR2s sold through them, often at more reasonable prices than craigslist listed prices since they’re going to other MR2 people.

I bought my last car off a Facebook buy and sell group... Don’t know if an actual marketplace is a thing yet north of the 49th.

not as yet, although I have some wheels posted.
one thing that irks me. if you lower the price manually there isn’t a PRICE LOWERED!!!!! awesomeness tag. but if you click their lower price button it will add the tag but it chooses some randomly unacceptbale lowered price.
anyhoo. I think it sucks so far. in general I see a ton of cars on FB marketplace, and almost zero information to make contacting the person worthwhile.
has potential though, at least FB messaging is pretty quick compared to CL.

I’d even advise starting with one of the special interest groups on facebook.
There is an E36 M3 SIG that has a lot of good discussion, good knowledgeable, seasoned owners, and people often post cars they find in case anyone is looking. It’s the only reason I ever get on facebook.
So I’d start there or the “normal” places like M3forum or bimmerforums first. If your car is clean and well maintained, they’re the best places to get the most out of a clean car.

The upside is that the trading post pages show up in market place if you put it as a for sale post.

I sold the LBC via Facebook, but it was just in a post in a group, not the official Marketplace. Messenger make it really easy to talk to potential buyers.

X2
It’s how I sold the LBC.

I’m located in CT. I don’t know if your opposed to shipping or even flying up. I could give you a full write up on it including the detractors and photos of everything. Sale would include all of the stock parts I deemed of value to keep (stock 19s, stock suspension, stock exhaust). I just did a valve adjustment, Bimmerworld VANOS HP oil line, and new CPV valve/oring this past week. I also have done the preventive maintenance like Beisan systems VANOS oil pump disk and Turner Motorsport rear subframe plates. Car will have new brakes and ECS tuning SS brake lines installed for buyer as well. Tires are brand new with about 4K miles.

No trades no lowballers lmao
I’ll write up everything I’ve done to the car tonight if I can but the cliff notes version is this: 2002 M3 Jet black/black, 6spd, 134k miles, 2 minor accidents, Beisan oil pump disk, turner motorsport rear subframe plates, bilstein b12 pro kit, ground control front camber plates, rouge engineering rear shock mounts, fabspeed catless headers, status gruppe 200 cell section 1 cats, status gruppe SCZA muffler.
Looking to sell in order to free up money to buy a condo. Don’t want to sell but it’s time to move out.

I put my 323 GTX up for sale on Facebook Marketplace a few weeks ago. I got a single offer from a guy on FB: $500 on a $2000 asking price. Fuck that.
The inquiries I got from my craigslist ads were nothing but well-informed, courteous, non-low-balling folks. Craigslist ftw.

Cool, I’ll look out for the post. What are you thinking price wise?
